Ducks and Dragonflies Farm

A hobby that started when we moved to the Minden area and carved out a space on 50 acres of bush and rock for a home and an idea of providing ourselves with some 'home grown food'. As a person that grew up in the city the growing of animals for food has been and still continues to be a learning experience.Currently with mainly laying hens and an assortment of ducks and a couple of pairs of geese kept for my own interest. I have in the past kept pigs, growing them for our own consumption. I also tried having cows for a brief period of time on the property but they were more than I could handle. I still do grow turkeys and meat chickens for ourselves.
I grow an selection of veggies, herbs, and flowers with varying degrees of success. I do far better with the flowers and some herbs as I do not have to compete with the chipmunks, squirrels and occasional ground hog who all seem to take great delight in outwitting me by getting to the ripening crop just before me!
